The US Ambassador to Lebanon revealed that President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu had a serious disagreement over Israel's military actions in Lebanon, with Washington making clear it does not want the conflict to spread further.
US Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa revealed after a meeting with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri that President Trump personally follows developments in Lebanon on a daily basis and had a heated disagreement with Prime Minister Netanyahu over Israel’s strikes on Beirut. Issa described both the Israeli airstrike on Beirut’s suburbs and Iran’s missile response as a deliberate “political message” rather than a full military operation, suggesting both sides are still managing the boundaries of this conflict.
The Ambassador made clear that Washington’s position is firm — the United States does not want this confrontation to expand any further. The public hint at tension between Trump and Netanyahu is significant because it shows the US and Israel are not fully aligned on how far military action should go, which markets will be watching closely as any shift in that relationship could change the trajectory of the conflict.
